Iron Baby is a YouTube Hit

Little Margaret Boivin is lucky enough to have a dad who knows his way around CGI.  Patrick Boivin’s had a vision of Margaret as Iron Baby that became a mini-movie.  See her fly through the sky and take on gun-toting bunnies in this YouTube video.  The video parody of Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man has receive over 6 million views to date.

Kids Learn from Parents not Videos

American parents spend hundreds of millions of dollars each year on educational videos for babies and toddlers. The trend began in 1997 with the Baby Einstein videos. Now a recent study conducted at Vanderbilt University has found that babies learn the most from interacting with their parents and caregivers. Although babies enjoy watching TV, they learn very little from so-called educational videos. According to the researchers, many parents mistake their baby’s attention to the screen with learning and attribute normal learning to the videos.

The findings from Vanderbilt back up earlier research done at the University of Washington. A study completed there in 2007 suggested that babies who watch educational DVDs actually learn less that babies who don’t.
