If you have young children, then your life is probably already pretty hectic.  For many people, the holiday season is a stressful time filled with shopping, gift wrapping and decorating.  According to surveys, 4 out of 5 people wish they could enjoy a simpler holiday season, with more focus on family and providing for people in need.  While your children are young, why not create some family holiday traditions of your own that will allow you to slow down and enjoy the beauty of the holiday season?

  • Read holiday books together aloud.  These can be picture books and story books like The Polar Express for young children, or classic works like A Christmas Carol for older children.
  • Create some homemade ornaments and then decorate the tree together as a family.  Make some popcorn and coco and enjoy the time together.
  • Complete a charitable project together.  Create a gift basket for a family in need, sing carols at a hospital or retirement home, or collect toys for a program like Toys for Tots.  Children are never too young to learn about the importance of helping other people.
