Many parents take their new baby to see grandparents and other relatives during the holiday season.  This may involve an airline flight.  With some forethought and preparation, you can avoid some of the problems that can occur when flying with your baby.

  • Book a nonstop flight so you don’t have to spend time connecting with another flight or waiting on the tarmac.

  • Check with the airline to find out if you can bring a baby carrier onboard.  This will make it easier for  your baby to sleep and will give you a chance to rest also.

  • Pack all the supplies you’ll need into a carry-on bag, including bottles, food, toys, diapers and a change of clothing for baby.

  • Give your baby a bottle during take offs and landings.  Changes in air cabin pressure can upset babies, but swallowing can provide some relief.
